  • 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Delphi & Saint Lucas Monastery:
    Delphi was considered by the ancient world as the navel of the earth, the centre of the universe. At the site where the oracle of Delphi, the most important of antiquity, is located, there was a prehistoric sanctuary dedicated to Gaia, the Great Mother.
    The Monastery of Saint Lucas is located on the western slope of Mount Helikon, beneath the acropolis of ancient Steiris. It is the best preserved monastic complex of the mid-Byzantine period. The monastery consists of the complex of two churches, the monastery of Panagia and the Katholikon, surrounded by cells and outbuildings.
  • Numerous cultural resources of religious interest (the pilgrimage of Saint John the Russian, the Monastery of Saint Seraphim, the Monastery of Panagia Makariotissa, the Monastery of Saint David, the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian, the Monastery of Damasta, etc.).

    The Region of Central Greece has created the program “Nature and Culture Route of Central Greece – OEDIPUS”. It is a branded and holistic cultural tourism product for the Region of Central Greece, which is structured based on the major sights of nature and culture in 7 selected destinations of this Region: 1) Chalkida – Eretria (Evia), 2) Delphi (Parnassos), 3) Karpenisi (Evritania), 4) Thermopylae (Kamena Vourla-Lamia-Kastro-Oiti), 5) Thebes, 6) Orchomenus, Viotia, and 7) Skyros.
